Ingrid Luyten obtained a Master’s degree in Chemistry and a Ph.D. degree in Organic Chemistry at the University of Leuven (Belgium). She is a European Patent Attorney and holds a “Queen Mary” degree, which is the equivalent to the CEIPI. She has been working in the field of Intellectual Property for over 10 years and is in charge of patent and litigation cases particularly relating to the pharmaceutical industry and agricultural sciences. Before working at Gevers, Ingrid worked at SOLVAY for 13 years and held positions as a senior research specialist and analyst and in legal IP affairs. Through her experience at SOLVAY and her actual position as an IP Counsel at Gevers, Ingrid has worked on the protection of several kinds of inventions in the field of chemistry. She has experience in industrial small organic chemicals, such as heterocyclic compounds and macromolecular chemicals, such as polymers, nucleic acids and peptides, their synthesis and structural characteristics (inorganic chemistry). She advises and represents you on patentability of inventions, IP protection strategies, patent infringement and enforcement, patent validity and technology. She defends cases in patent prosecution, opposition proceedings, patent infringement and nullity actions. She handles cases in English and Dutch and is sufficiently proficient in French and German to handle texts written in those languages. She also advises French-speaking inventors. Currently, she is very active in training young PhD technologists to become proficient patent attorneys.
